FC Barcelona Statistics (2018-2019) Season Dashboard

With the recent (and very expensive) team transfers of world-class players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, I’ve been increasingly interested in the business and statistical side of football. So, I was extremely happy when I found this Kaggle dataset made up of data from EA Sports’ FIFA 19. Of course, the FC Barcelona Data I needed was just a small subset of the Kaggle dataset. Extracting the specific data I needed from the dataset was trivial thanks to the Pandas library in Python. I also collected some data from FC Barcelona News.

I decided to explore the newly prepared data a little bit to find statistics that excited me. The dashboard below provides a visualization of the most exciting statistics I found.

Note about the final image: The treemap rectangle sizes for each player are dependent on their contribution to the total player market value. The more valuable a player is, the larger their rectangle is. In the interactive dashboard, users were able to click on any rectangle. The card with the “Click on any player!” text would then display that player’s specific net worth. Nifty!
